We have developed a special treatment that is applied after the assembling process that leaves an antiviral coating e.g. on the button cap.

By applying our specially developed treatment to e.g. a button cap, the treated product gets coated with an invisible film that destroys certain viruses. Subsequently, the load of viruses on the surface of a button is reduced significantly minimizing potential infections with viral diseases.

The launched S.A.F.E. treated buttons show an incredible efficiency against viruses of 90% in 2 hours and 93% in 6 hours even after 20 washes at 40°C.

The S.A.F.E. treatment is now available for all our metal denim, sewing and snap button systems made of nickel free silver. But we are currently working on expanding the treatment to other finishes and are testing the opportunity to add this antiviral effect to other fashion accessories like eyelets or plates going forward.

Even though there is a minor infection risk through clothing due to experts, research has shown that viruses can survive on clothes for several days. Here, studies have shown that viruses generally survive longer on hard surfaces like plastic and metal than on fabrics. Experts agree that the infection risk for COVID-19 through contact with surfaces is vanishingly uncommon. For other diseases in turn the so-called contact infection through surfaces, also known as smear infection, plays a more essential role like e.g. for diarrheal diseases but also in viruses that can cause conjunctivitis, chickenpox, herpes, and quite ordinary colds. Of course, there is a higher risk for this via surfaces in public places like stair handrail or traffic light buttons. But especially in environments with high exposure to viral diseases such as hospitals and medical offices also the clothing can become a risk factor for infection.
